LFHS's Hidden Treasure: Student Support Round Tables
Part of enjoying the journey is not being afraid to reach out for help when you need it. At the high school, our counselors--the ultimate sherpas-- have provided various student support groups, called Student Support Round Tables, that are welcoming at any moment. Look them over to see if attending one of these weekly group talks would help to reduce your stress!
- Family Issues Group
- Crossroads Group (for unmotivated students)
- Family Illness Group
- Adopted Students Group
- Loss/ Remembrance Group
- "Q", the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning support group (Alliance, the LBGTQ support club, also meets after school on one Thursday per month in room 334.)
If any of these groups apply to you and would benefit you, do yourself a favor and contact Mr. Maigler at [email protected]!

q: What does "high school" mean to you?
(your school mates' responses)
a: High school is a place to discover all your quirky qualities and meet the people who will deal with them. It is a place to try new things, including cafeteria food. High school is a chance to test your teachers' limits and learn how to do it correctly. High school is there to be your bully and your best friend and to teach you how to live with both. High school is the place to discover who you are and have a spot of fun while doing it.
-- Marlene Reinert
a: I honestly think that high school is the time to discover who you are and discover what you want to do in life. I've been approached so many times to help people with math that I now know what I want to do as a job! It's something that makes me, ME. And high school is there to find out what makes you, YOU.
--Peyton Moore
a: High school is the time in someone's life when you do the best you can so you can go on to do what you really want to do in life.
-- Kyra Burke
a: The place I spend more time at than at home.
-- Kelsey McAfee
a: High school means those four years where you grow up, find out who you really are, and find who your real friends are. You learn not only about academics, but also life.
-- John McClellan
a: High school is about maturing, going a step forward in life, and accomplishing. It's about the joys of good grades that make the stressful moments worthwhile. It's about trying to be something you're not, when in actuality finding your place was effortless. It's about striving for success, yet taking moments to slow down. High school is about leaving the building for the last time as a unique individual chocked full of memories and knowledge, and ready for the journey ahead.
-- Jessica Duong
a: It's a place where you find your bridesmaids and enjoy the best four years of your life. You discover what you like and dislike without risking not becoming what you want to be.
-- Rand Hashim
a: High school, in one big summary, means opportunities and taking the chances that are waiting just around the corner.
-- Anna Volkmann
a: High school means a new chapter in my life. It's a fresh start and the time where we develop into unique individuals. It's the next step in pursuing a successful future by achieving our goals and striving for excellence in everything we do.
-- Brooke Hoekstra
a: High school is a place that gives you a little look into what the world will be like and how to deal with it when you step into it.
-- Sara Sennello
